Atlantic Center for the Arts Announces Pabst Endowed Fund for Artists-in-Residence

Atlantic Center for the Arts’ Board Chair, Margery Pabst, made an extraordinary gift to ACA last year which named ACA’s Mark and Margery Pabst Visitor Center & Gallery in honor of her and her late husband.

Margery Pabst continues her remarkable commitment to the careers of talented artists with the establishment of the Pabst Endowed Fund. This generous $450,000 endowment gift will be invested, which will allow the principal to grow with the interest used to fund artists-in-residence, specifically writers.

A benefit of this Fund will be the creation of the Pabst Endowed Chair for Master Writers.  The Master Artists who will hold the Pabst Endowed Chair are the leading literary lights of our time and provide invaluable mentorship to talented writers from across the country and the globe through ACA’s year-round Artists-in-Residence program.

Ann Brady, executive director of Atlantic Center said, “Margie’s generosity goes beyond the immediate magnificence of such a gift.  Her idea, indeed her challenge, is that we leverage her gift by inviting our patrons, members, and potential new donors to think beyond today, and work toward ensuring ACA’s future by building our overall endowment.  ACA was built on this kind of creative, strategic thinking and our founder Doris Leeper would have been thrilled to know that her legacy of planning for ACA’s long-term sustainability continues today.”

Margery Pabst is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and consultant who for over 30 years has focused on human potential and development.  As the founder of MLP Enterprises, she develops curriculum, authors books, and provides consulting to Fortune 500 companies.

In 2008, the Pabst Endowed Chair for Master Writers will be held by poet Chase Twichell (February 18 through March 9), poet Tony Hoagland (May 19 through June 8), and poet Eamon Grennan (October 13 through November 2).
